Standing up for the Unborn
Standing up for the unborn – The Catholic Northwest Progress by Kevin Birnbaum
Some amazing stories from those braving the elements to hold constant vigil for an end to abortion. The “40 Days for Life campaign” had some interesting stories from those on the front lines, or as one person called them, “The Vanguards for the Unborn” engaged in a “spiritual” battle of sorts. One such story struck me outright and it should, because most people would believe they couldn’t possibly have an effect but this says otherwise:
“As of Oct. 27, the 40 Days for Life campaign nationwide had helped change the minds of at least 384 women who had been planning to have an abortion, according to the campaign’s Web site.”
This says 384 babies saved from the hell of abortion.
Good people disarming the angry:
“At 6 a.m. I met Louis Clausen and his fiancée, Sheila Donovan, both members of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Seattle who also attend the Parish of the North American Martyrs. Before praying the Liturgy of the Hours, they related an experience from last Halloween, during the first national 40 Days for Life campaign. Late that night, they were approached by a combative, blue-faced man – they came to know him as Matt the Smurf – who demanded to know why they were holding vigil against abortion when there were people starving.
They explained that, while there are many groups dedicated to feeding the hungry, “there aren’t very many people, especially in this city, who speak up for the unborn,” said Clausen, “and they’re really the weakest of us, they’re the most dependent on someone else, and they’re the most vulnerable, because at any time Mom could choose” to have an abortion.
Matt the Smurf changed his tune, and replied, “I get it. You guys are the vanguards for the unborn. You’re standing up for them.“
Amazing we can look at things from one viewpoint and think we’re on the right side, but there is always another side.
Anyhow, we all have a choice to get up and do something, or sit back and let someone else. There are more stories, go check it out!
